| I have had a most pleasing, and most productive day.
A while ago I got myself an electric violin, and since then have been kitting out my room for recording from the thing. Today, after several hours of hunting for parts, and wieding a soldering iron my rudimentary setup is complete!
Couple that with a cleaning frenzy and my room is also quite tidy!
I have apple pie!
Now, off to watch Avatar - the last air-bender, yay! - Mood:happy

| So, something roattomanderlay said to me has been rattling round in my head for a few days/weeks now.
In a nutshell, not everyone relies on ration/logic for their thought process. How exactly does one use emotion to analyse an idea or a concept?
How best would I go about communicating with someone who cannot be reached with logic?

| yes, zombies CAN feel love too! tada a short story on zombie love. on a related note, quite some time ago I posted a link to a story about a post scarcity future, in which robots eventualy took over all the work forcing almost everyone into arcologies for the unemployed, except for a faction in australia which are freed from all care and worry? I spent some time looking through my lj back posts, but that one seems to have gone missing. | |

| I am so angry right now.
Remember people: buying computer games is bad. There is absolutly NO advantage to it. I havn't played anyting on pc in AGES, because nothign has been interesting but then boom.. a sequal to my favorite all time game fear 2 (hyperbole present, but its in my top 5)
I run out and buy the game on my way home from tarnaki.. excited I get home and put the thing in the drive. The first thing it does is install the online distribution service.. the thing you buy games off.. Okay, I think.. if thats how they are doint the activation I can live with that. Steam decides it needs to update itself.. forcing me to wait 20 mins (I'm getting no speed off their server.. its not OUR end thats slow) It binds itself permently to my account.. I can now nolonger resell the game.. Ok I think, thats not too bad.. THEN THE THING ASKS FOR A CD KEY.. The point of STEAM being that you don't need to keep CD keys around.
Now I'm displeased.. so I put in the key and tell it to do its business. The two DVD game sits there for 20 mins doing its thing, annoying but hey its a pc game right? thats what they do.. now guess what? the game decides it NEEDS to be updated, and doesn't ask me for permission. This game is unplayable till it has updated itself.. from STEAMs incredibly SLOW ass servers. last time it gave me an estimated time it was looking like two hours! before I can play this game I have brought..
I'm sick of this shit. I'm pissed off and done with pc gaming.
You had your chance, and you have had my custom for YEARS. I have shelves of games, But I'm not going to be addng to them.
In short.. Screw you gaming industry. - Mood:angry

| Whats your ideal League of extrodinary gentlemen?
Pick five to ten characters from literature, or pop culture and explain why then tag three other people to do the same.
1: Blackhat - from xkcd. Every group needs a classhole. 2: Esme Weatherwax - Discworld Nothing phases her and she can sort anything supernatural under any sun. 3: DubDub - The middleman. Competent, cool, can handle the tech and looks good. Every group needs one :) 4:Charles Foster Ofdensen (Dethklok's manager) - Metalocalypse Someone to handle, aquire and manage all financial and business arangments, while kicking ass in a restrained manner when required. 5: Ensign Ricky - A redshirt/disposable crewman (preferably with a sizable life insurance policy) Better you than me, right?
Tagging: Oltanya, Roadtomanderlay, Morbane.

| Ask for 5 words, and write a bit about each one.
My words were: Toys, overseas, tea, geekdom and quarterstaffs.
Toys: The obsession of every geek! We all collect toys of one sort or another some safe for work, others less :D My toys are mostly technical in nature, usually small devices with a display and perform some cool function. Less common are the things designed to launch things at other things but if you visit me they will probably seem all the more prominent (due to said things rapidly approaching your airspace)
Overseas: Overseas, all in all not particularly interesting to me. I have visited other countries and while they were all western they felt very much like New Zealand, but usually warmer and more sprawling. The people were people despite the different accents. If I am to travel it will have to be somewhere more obscure like eastern europe or asia.
Tea: A great substances. It smells wonderful and is an excelent and healthy alternative to many other caffine suspensions which all appear to either be vile or contain significantly more sugar.
Geekdom: Geekdom? my life. I am a geek, and geekdom is all around me. It is in the air I breath and the clothes I wear.. or is that the matrix? In any case, its all good.
QuaterStaffs: A simple but incredibly effective weapon, similar to the eastern Bo staff. Its interesting and all, but I still prefer the short staff which is both more portable and more interesting :) - Music:Pink Floyd - Marooned

| So I'm finaly getting around to reading the book I brought a while ago, called "overclocking yoru brain", which is full of mental performance tricks for increasing memory, math function and all sorts of otehr interesting stuffs.
One of the things in there mentioned a supplementary lanuage called speedwords, which is basicly shorthand using the standard latin alphabet that we all know and love so well.
Interesting fact: 25% of our communication uses 10 words. by shortening those words you can drasticly and quickly increase note-taking/typing etc speed.
Below are some words, and the speedword equivilents.
l - the d - of a - to e - is i - in k - that s - he y - was & - and
It is my intention to start using speed talk in things like lj posts, inorder to reinforce the meaning in my own head. Depending on feedback, I may simply write a duplicate post in speedwords under a lj cut, or not.
